About Me..

ME

I… am 100% Filipino, although most of the time it feels more fitting to say that I am American. I was, after all, born and raised in the States. I grew up in a typical Filipino household. My Mom was a Nurse (surprise, surprise) and my Dad an Accountant. Traveling to the Philippines several times throughout my childhood has afforded me the luxury of being able to understand/speak 2 of the country’s dialects…well, okay, so I speak each with a very distinct American accent AND have the grammatical aptitude equal to that of a local 7 year old…but, hey, I can communicate nonetheless! Although I am learning to embrace my roots more and more everyday, I’ll be the first to admit that I was not always comfortable being categorized as anything but American.

 In fact,

wedI even used to say that I would never date anyone of my race…let alone marry a Filipino! Yet, despite my rebellion…on October 7, 2006, after 8 years of dating, I said, “I do,” to a man who could probably be the poster child of the Philippines! Ha! Go figure! Sometimes the cultural gap between us isn’t so big and other times it’s as large as the Grand Canyon. Even so, our wedding day was one of the best days of my life. momian

I am a mother to a beautiful boy who continues to bring more joy to my days than he will ever know. His Dad and I were two foolish kids who thought we were in love; but, you live, learn, and then you move on. Despite our failure as a couple, however…I must say that I harbor no regrets because out of something so terrible came someone so amazing. The heartache, the messiness, the hardships – all worth it. One look at our son and…I know ~ everything is as it should be

My boys (my son & hubby, that is) are the ABSOLUTE loves of my life!

As for my career…for practical reasons, I became an Accountant. I know…zzzzzzzzzzzz. But…I can’t complain, because it pays the bills and then some. If practicality weren’t an issue though…I’d have probably chosen a more artsy fartsy career path like that of a writer, film producer/editor, or oooh maybe even a make-up artist to the stars! Ha! Who knows…maybe someday. Dare to dream, right?

In the meantime…my thoughts have been on babies, babies, and more babies. It is my hope that in the very near future, there will be an addition or additions to our quaint little family. After several years of trying to conceive with my husband and 2 failed attempts at IVF…we are still so very hopeful.

Though I am not the biggest fan of open forums nor one to freely bare my soul for all the world to see…I’ve found that my issue with infertility has and continues to be a heavy burden to bear; therefore, I hope to use this blog as a soundboard, if you will, for the plethora of emotions that I am bound to encounter throughout our journey towards a baby. We shall see what blessings lie ahead. Anyhoo… Welcome to my home on the web!

Hope you enjoy your stay.
